The Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens (PAIA), the Romanian Archaeological Institute in Athens (RAIA), the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the University of Bucharest have the pleasure to announce the international conference Archaeology of the Greek and Roman Periods in the Black Sea Region. People, Culture, Landscape. First collaborative workshop on the archaeology of the Black Sea. A joint initiative of Polish and Romanian research institutions (November 18 and 19, 2025 at PAIA and online). The conference is organized by dr.hab. Inga Głusek (for the Polish Archeological Institute at Athens and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń) and by dr. Alexandra Lițu (for the Romanian Archaeological Institute in Athens and the University of Bucharest).
This initiative is conceived of as the inaugural step for a series of international conferences organized at Athens by the four partners with the aim of establishing a yearly event focused on archaeology in the Black Sea area. The main focus of the 2025 conference is pottery. The conference gathers together scholars from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine.
