Call for Papers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

October 24-26, 2019, Bucharest, Romania
Deadline: June 30, 2019 <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The\nUniversity of Bucharest, in partnership with the Romanian Academy, organizes an\ninternational scientific conference on \u201cThe\nBolshevik danger in Central Europe in 1919<\/strong>\u201d on October 24-26, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\npurpose of this conference is to provide interested scholars with a platform\nfor discussing the perception of Bolshevism as a major risk factor in Central Europe, especially, but not\nlimited to, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, the Baltic\nStates and Romania, after the end of\nthe First World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\npropose the following topics, while also allowing the participants to put\nforward other subjects related to the prospects of Bolshevik danger in 1919:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.\nThe perception and attitude of the Allied Powers at the Paris Peace Conference\non the Bolshevik threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.\nPublic perceptions and historiographical myths regarding the Bolshevik movement\nof 1919.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.\nBolshevik propaganda in Central Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.\nPropaganda against Bolshevism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.\nThe Bolshevik republics of Munich and Budapest between social aspirations and\nnational frustrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.\nThe military campaigns of Czechoslovakia and Romania against the Hungarian\nSoviet Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.\nRomanian, Polish and Baltics\u2019 military confrontations with Soviet Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.\nThe role of the military interventions of the Entente against Russia in forming\nthe public imaginary about the Bolshevik danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.\nThe public violence of the Bolsheviks and anti-Bolsheviks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.\nInternational public law and humanitarian law in political and military actions\nagainst the Bolsheviks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deadline: 30.06.2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Interested\npersons are kindly asked to send the title of their presentations by email to conference1919@istorie.unibuc.ro<\/a> by June 30th<\/sup>, 2019, together with a\nsummary of up to 300 words and a short autobiography of the author\/ authors in\nEnglish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proposals\nwill be peer-reviewed and selected by a scientific committee. Each applicant\nwill receive a response from the organizing committee by July 31st<\/sup>,\n2019 at the latest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\nthe participants in need of a visa we will provide the necessary documents in\ntime for obtaining it for their respective travel to Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After\nthe conference, the selected works will be published in a volume at a\nprestigious publishing house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fees:<\/strong> There\nare no fees<\/strong> in order to attend this\nconference. The organizers will ensure the accommodation (3 nights) and the meals\nfor the participants during the conference, the transport costs being covered\nby the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
